As much as Mustafa Muhanna's sculptural works reveal an apparent fragility—not only due to their compositions, which make them seem as if they are on the verge of disintegration, but also because of their materials, which evoke overwhelming images of destruction, rubble, and the pain Gaza has endured through countless successive wars—these works also embody a latent strength.
This strength stems from a profound will to endure and rise again, drawn by the artist from the multifaceted identity of the place and the resilience of its people. Like many other artists, Mustafa lost some of his artworks that were kept at the Shababeek premises in Gaza. All that remains of those works are photographs, which have joined hundreds of images of other artworks by dozens of artists in the ongoing art demonstration - DNA.
