Maysa Yousef

A Palestinian artist from Gaza, born in 1984. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Fine Arts (Painting and Photography) from Al-Aqsa University. She has undertaken extensive training in various artistic disciplines, including drawing, photography, arabesque, graphics, and contemporary art, and has participated in numerous workshops such as Cultivating Young Talents, Spring of Art, Artists for Palestine, and Sabbat Al-Alami.

 

Her artistic journey features significant contributions to public murals that explore themes such as the impact of war, human rights, combating corruption, and commemorating events like International Women’s Day, Prisoners’ Day, and Nakba Day. Maisaa has showcased her work in various art events and collective exhibitions, including the International Milad Festival. She has collaborated with esteemed art organizations such as Shababeek for Contemporary Art, the Eltiqa Group, the French Cultural Center, the Culture and Free Thought Association in Gaza, and the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah. Maisaa is particularly renowned for her distinctive collage art style, which reflects her deep engagement with contemporary issues and her innovative approach to visual storytelling.

 

During the devastating war on Gaza, Maisaa lost her studio, along with many of her artworks that were destroyed. However, she remains undeterred, continuing to create new paintings and utilizing her ruined studio space as a testament to her resilience. As a Palestinian artist, Maisaa transforms the harsh realities of destruction into powerful expressions of steadfastness, using her brush, paints, and imagination to confront the cruelty and barbarity she faces.
