Ahmed Muhanna

Born in 1984 in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza, Ahmed Muhanna is a Palestinian artist based in Gaza. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Al-Aqsa University.

Ahmed's artistic journey began early in life, and he has participated in a wide range of educational and training programs to enhance his skills. His commitment to artistic development led him to attend numerous courses in drawing, painting, and animation. He also participated in an art residency at Eltiqa for Contemporary Art in 2021. He has contributed to several mural projects in public spaces.

Ahmed has participated in several group exhibitions including exhibitions at Al-Aqsa University ↗ in 2002, 2004, and 2006. He also took part in the "Palestine Exhibition of Contemporary Art" and the "Homeland Love" exhibition at the Arts and Crafts Village in 2017 in addition to "Here is Palestine" exhibition at Dar Al-Ghoussein in Gaza in 2020.

Ahmed's work reflects his deep connection to his Palestinian identity and culture. Despite the tremendous challenges posed by the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, including displacement and the destruction of his artwork, Ahmad remains committed to his artistic practice, using art as a powerful tool for expression and healing. He continues to create, inspire, and participate in initiatives that bring art to communities around him.

Ahmed became known for his drawings on the cardboard boxes of relief and aid supplies that entered Gaza during the current times of war. This choice emerged out of necessity when he had no paper or canvas for his artwork. What began as a constraint evolved into an ongoing project, charging his works with profound layers of meaning. These creations resonated deeply with a wide audience, which he reached through social media. Ahmed lost his artworks when the Israeli occupation forces bombed the Shababeek for Contemporary Art as they were on display there.
